Hawaii Population

Hawaii is the most remote island chain in the world and is home to a diverse population. The Hawaiian population is made up of several different ethnicities and nationalities, including Native Hawaiians, Asians, Caucasians, and Pacific Islanders. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, in 2020 Hawaii had a total population of 1.42 million people with a median age of 38 years old. Native Hawaiians make up the largest ethnic group in Hawaii at 20 percent of the total population while Asians comprise 35 percent of Hawaii’s residents. Caucasians make up 24 percent of Hawaii’s population and Pacific Islanders are 10 percent. Other groups make up the remaining 11 percent of Hawaii’s population.

Hawaii boasts a multicultural society, with many languages spoken throughout its islands including Hawaiian, English and Japanese being some of the most widely spoken among its residents. The unique culture found on each island is also widely celebrated by all who live there, both locals and visitors alike. In addition to this cultural diversity, Hawaii also has an incredibly diverse economy as well as numerous educational opportunities offered through its many universities and community colleges located throughout the state’s various islands. As one might expect from such a diverse population living in such an isolated place, Hawaiian culture has developed into something truly unique compared to other cultures around the world; it is truly an amazing place to visit or live!
