Location
The airport, which went into operation in 1952 and is open 24 hours, is located approx. 11 kilometers north of Hanover city center in Langenhagen. Drivers can best reach the airport via the A322 motorway at the “Hannover Airport” exit and also via the L190 state road. The A322 is a short stretch of motorway between the A7 and the A2, north of Hanover.

The airport has a total of 3 terminals, which are labeled A, B and C. The S-Bahn line S5 runs regularly between Hanover Central Station and Terminal C. The journey takes around 15 minutes. Furthermore, the bus line 470 runs regularly between Langenhagen-Zentrum and the airport. You can find out all current departure times either directly on site or via the Internet.

History
Before the construction of today’s Hanover-Langenhagen Airport, there was already an airport north of Hanover. This was Vahrenwald Airport. However, when this could not be expanded because of its location, the decision was made to build a new airport.

Although opened on April 26th, 1952, the two passenger terminals A and B of the airport, which are still in use today, were not completed until 1973. The third and largest Terminal C was handed over in 1998. Just in time for the Expo 2000 world exhibition, the underground S-Bahn station was put into operation, which provides a connection between the airport and the main train station and the cities of Hameln, Bad Pyrmont and Paderborn. There is also a connection to the Hanover exhibition center for major trade fairs.
