CLIMATE
Serbia is a southeastern European country with an area of 88,407 km2, located on the Balkan Peninsula.
80% of the territory of Serbia is located on the Balkan Peninsula, and 20% is occupied by the Pannonian Lowland. The rugged mountains, hills and valleys of the Dinaric Alps run through Serbia west of the Morava River, while the Balkan Mountains form natural borders with Bulgaria and Romania. The highest point in Serbia is Mount Djaravica on the Prokletije mountain range, which rises at an altitude of 2665 meters above the ground. A third of the country’s territory is covered with broad-leaved forests (oak and beech predominate). Serbia has a rich variety of wild animals. The forests abound with large mammals such as deer, wild boars and bears.

The country’s climate is continental, with cold, relatively dry winters and warm, humid summers. Precipitation ranges from 560 to 1900 mm per year, depending on the altitude.
