Idaho – The Indians called this area land where the mountains sparkle, today it is nicknamed “Gem State”. The main source of income for the approximately 800,000 inhabitants is potato cultivation. Yellowstone National Park is one of the most popular travel destinations in the United States. Idaho was inquired about by researchers Lewis and Clark in 1805, and missionaries and fur traders were the first settlers. Around 1860 there was also a gold rush in Idaho. In 1890 Idaho became the 43rd state in the United States. The capital is Boise.
