Weather in United Arab Emirates by Month
The UAE is located on the territory of the Arabian Peninsula and occupies its northeastern regions. The state consists of seven emirates. The country’s lands are washed by the Persian and Oman Gulfs.
The area of the country is small, so the weather is approximately the same throughout its territory. An exception can only be called the mountainous regions of Hajar, where it is more damp and the temperature is lower. Otherwise, the UAE belongs to countries with a subtropical desert climate, which extends both to the desert and to coastal zones. A characteristic feature is a sharp temperature drop at different times of the day.
The difference between winter weather and summer weather is low temperatures at night. The water in the bays remains warm both in summer and in the off-season.
The weather in the United Arab Emirates is formed by months into a schedule with which you can plan your vacation and prepare for the weather features of a particular season.
January
The coldest time in the Emirates is the middle of winter. Locals put on jackets and hats, and cold winds blow from the sea. However, for Europeans, the local winter is not at all terrible, because the air here warms up to 23 ° C during the day. At night, the thermometer drops by 8 degrees, but the water does not cool below +17 °C.
Weather in the UAE in January is complicated by high humidity. There are no extreme colds in the territory, but it can rain, and in the mornings traffic is hindered by fogs. In total, up to 6-7 rainy days can be observed per month.
February
In February, the air temperature directly depends on the location of the resort. So, in coastal areas, the air warms up to +27 °С during the day, but at night it does not get warmer than +15 °С. Frosts are also possible in desert areas, so it’s worth going to the warmest locations. For example, on the beaches of Fujairah. It can be hot there during the day – up to +30 ° С.
The water in the bays in February cools down to +19 °С. Daredevils can swim if their vacation does not fall on 5-6 rainy days in a month.
March
Spring comes to the Emirates at the end of March. On average, in the country, the air warms up to +28 °С, and the water is already quite warm – +22 °С. It can be cooler at night – at + 20 ° C, it is worth taking a jacket for a walk along the embankment.
April
Weather in the UAE in the spring stabilizes in April. At noon, the air temperature exceeds +30 °C, and at night it does not drop below +20 °C. The water in the bays near the coast is warm – up to +26 ° С.
April vacation in the Emirates is the most comfortable season, because in summer the unbearable heat reigns in the territory. There is practically no rain in the middle of spring. However, winds may blow and fogs may arise.
May
Extreme heat begins in May, when the air warms up to +37 °C. The night coolness does not save either, because the thermometer does not fall below +25 ° С. The water is comfortable for swimming with small children – +27 ° С. Tourists love the May holidays and for the lack of precipitation.
June
In June, it is recommended to come to rest only for lovers of heat. The air is warmed up to + 39… 40 ° С, and there is no escape from the heat even at night (+27 ° С). In the Gulf of Oman, the readings of the water thermometer are always two or three degrees lower than in the Persian. On average, the country’s water is warmed up to +26 °C.
The weather in the UAE in summer is dry and suitable for locals, but too hot for Europeans. It is better to transfer the rest to the dune autumn season.
July
Regardless of the resort, in July, holidays in the Emirates will be complicated by the scorching heat. At noon, the thermometer shows +45 ° C, and at night the heat stays at around +30 ° C. The water in the bays is warmed up to + 26-30 degrees, but there are few vacationers at this time. Reduce the price of tours and accommodation to attract tourists.
Families with children, pregnant women and the elderly are strongly discouraged from traveling to Dubai, Sharjah and Abu Dhabi in July.
August
In comparison with the July peak, the August weather pleases with a slight decrease in the degree. During the day, the air is warmed up to +41 ° С, and at night it is only ten degrees cooler.
The water in the Gulf of Oman is heated to +25 °С, and in the Persian Gulf it is extremely warm – up to +32 °С. During the August holidays, it is worth remembering the likelihood of sandstorms. “Shargi” can suddenly appear and drag on for several days.
September
The weather in the UAE in autumn is characterized by high water temperatures and cooler air. The average daytime figures are +36 ° C, and at night the air cools by ten degrees. In the coastal zone, the water is warmed up to +24…27 °С. Extreme heat reigns only in Fujairah, where at noon the thermometer is unlikely to show below +40 ° C.
October
With the advent of late autumn, the climate pleases with more comfortable temperatures for relaxation. During the day, the air is warmed up to +34 ° C, and at night it can be 8-10 degrees cooler. The sea is warm at any time of the day – + 25… 27 ° С. The velvet season is characterized by the absence of precipitation and winds.
November
The second peak of the holiday season begins in November, as evidenced by the weather in the UAE by months. Daytime figures rarely exceed +30 °C, and at night the air cools down to a pleasant +20 °C. The ideal time for swimming and sunbathing is when the water is warmed up to +23 °C, and the sun is not so active anymore, which eliminates the possibility of sunburn.
In November, the chance of precipitation slightly increases. In just a month, no more than 10 mm falls. That’s about two cloudy days a month.
December
The arrival of winter in the Emirates can only be detected on the calendar, since the same warm autumn reigns throughout the country. Coastal areas differ by +25 °C, and at night the thermometer will show about +17 °C.
The water in the Gulf of Oman is two to three degrees warmer than in the Persian and warms up to +20 °C. To compensate for this “cooling”, hotels increase the heating of pools to +28 °C. The weather in the UAE in winter is offset by lower prices for tours and a small number of beaches.
Seasonal Features
Depending on the time of rest, the tourist needs to take a list of “seasonal” things with him. In summer, these are sunscreens and glasses, light hats and mosquito repellents. It is also worth taking a pareo cape to go to the shops and the hotel after the beach. This is necessary in order not to catch a cold by entering an air-conditioned room from +45 ° C outside.
For winter holidays in the UAE, take a long-sleeve sweater and sneakers for evening walks. Sweatpants will also come in handy if you want to visit Ski Dubai, an indoor ski resort where the temperature is kept at zero at any time of the year. Ski equipment can be rented at the entrance.
The climate of the UAE is comfortable for recreation during the off-season.
