Like Guyana, this is a tourist destination ignored by most Brazilians. The differences already begin with its colonization, which was Dutch, and because of that the country has latent cultural differences in relation to the other South American countries. For this reason, Suriname maintains closer relations with the nations of the Caribbean, which are more identified with their colonization. It is the smallest country on the continent, in addition to being a member of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) and the only sovereign nation outside Europe to use Dutch as its official language.
