Weather in Slovenia by Month

The Republic of Slovenia is located in Central Europe, in the north of the Balkan Peninsula. The area of the state is 20.3 thousand km2. On the western side, the country is washed by the Adriatic Sea.

Slovenia is divided into four relief zones. In the northwest stretches the mountain system of the Alps, which occupy 42% of the country’s territory. In the northeast lies the Pannonian lowland. January is a cold and foggy month. In the central part of the country the air temperature fluctuates within 0°С. Precipitation is recorded, but the snow cover is delayed only in the north of Slovenia due to sub-zero temperatures. At ski resorts, daytime temperatures range from -1°С to +2°С, and at night – from -4°С to -8°С.

In seaside resorts, the air temperature in February rarely drops below +6°C. In Ljubljana, the daytime air temperature is +4°C, and at night it drops to 0°C. In the southern resorts of Slovenia in May, the air temperature is between +23°С…+25°С. +28°C is recorded on the Adriatic coast. However, swimming is still cold. The water temperature is +18°C. In December, the weather is unstable. In mountainous regions, daytime air temperature varies from 0°С to -10°С. But in general, excellent conditions for ski holidays are created.
