Weather in Jordan by Month

The Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan is located in Southeast Asia and covers an area of 89,400 km². It borders with Syria to the north, Iraq to the northeast, Israel and the Palestinian territories to the west, and Saudi Arabia to the east and south. The Jordan River conditionally separates the kingdom from the state of Israel. The country has access to the Dead Sea and the coast of the Gulf of Aqaba of the Red Sea. The highest point of the country is Mount Jabal Ram (1734 m), the lowest is the Dead Sea (-486 m). Most of Jordan is located in the subtropical Mediterranean zone, characterized by a dry and warm climate. Low temperatures are observed in January: up to +4°C at night. In January, the weather in Jordan pleases more sightseeing hunters than beach lovers. The average daily temperature in the capital Amman ranges from +10 ° C… +12 ° C during the day and up to +4 ° C… +6 ° C at night. By the standards of the country, a huge amount of precipitation falls – up to 70 mm. No more than 5 rainy days. The southernmost city of Aqaba warms up to +20 ° C… +21 ° C during the day and cools down to +8 ° C… +9 ° C at night. Precipitation is not intense – up to 5 mm. The water in the Red Sea is warmed up to +21 ° С.

The average daily temperature in Aqaba is +19 ° C. In Amman during the day up to +13 ° C, at night up to +4 ° C. In Petra, the most comfortable temperature for sightseeing is +15 ° C during the day and +3 ° C at night. The water temperature in the Dead Sea is kept at around +20 ° C. It rains mainly in the center and in the north of the country.

May is ideal for sightseeing tours and relaxing on the beach. In Aqaba, the air temperature varies from +35 ° C during the day to +21 ° C at night. The water in the sea warms up to + 24 ° C. In the capital and its environs, around +28 ° C during the day, up to +14 ° C at night. In Petra, during the day, thermometers show +29 ° C, at night – up to +13 ° C. In Aqaba, temperatures are still high: +33 ° C during the day and +22 ° C at night. The water temperature in the resort is kept at + 27 ° C. In Amman and Petra, precipitation up to 5 mm is possible.

In November, the rainy season comes to Jordan, but the southern coast and the surroundings of the Dead Sea remain hot and dry. Amman has a mild and warm climate. During the day +20 ° С… +22 ° С, at night +10 ° С… +13 ° С. There can be only one rainy day in a month, bringing no more than 33 mm of precipitation. Summer still reigns in Aqaba in November: during the day +27 ° С, at night +15 ° С. The water temperature is comfortable for swimming: +24.5 ° С.

In Amman during the day it is not higher than +15 ° С, at night it gets cold up to +6 ° С. Precipitation is approximately 45 mm.
