Nepal is an Asian country located in the Himalayas. Here, on the border with China, is the highest point in the world: Everest (8,850 m). There are 29 million residents (2016). The capital is Kathmandu. The Buddhism and Hinduism were already the dominant religions in Nepal, in the Middle Ages. In the 18th century, the Kingdom of Nepal was formed with the unification of local principalities and small states. In the 19th century, the British arrived. After the war of 1814/16, the two countries signed a peace and cooperation treaty. Nepal has suffered from political instability since the 1990s. A new constitution was established in 2015.
