Manama is the capital of Bahrain. The city is located at the north end of the island of Bahrain, on the Gulf of Persia. It has 157 00 residents (2019). The city is a commercial and financial center with petroleum refinery and shipyards.
The city has an international airport in al-Muharraq, a modern port in Mina Sulman, a university and a national museum. Al-Fateh Mosque is the largest in the country.
